Our History

The Mu Rho Sigma Alumnae Chapter was granted its charter on December 28, 2018, in Henderson, Nevada. With a shared commitment to service and a desire to expand the impact of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. throughout Southern Nevada, ten members of the Eta Chi Sigma Alumnae Chapter in Las Vegas recognized an opportunity to establish a chapter dedicated to serving the Henderson community.
The strategic planning process was filled with vision, purpose, and ambitious goals for the chapter’s future. As part of their efforts to establish meaningful community relationships, letters were sent to the Mayor of Henderson and the Superintendent of the Clark County School District introducing the chapter’s vision and plans for service within the City of Henderson. The immediate responses and warm welcome affirmed that Mu Rho Sigma had found a community where its commitment to Greater Service, Greater Progress could flourish.
On December 28, 2018, that vision became a reality with the chartering of the Mu Rho Sigma Alumnae Chapter.
The Ten Charter Members are: Vaden Fowler, Joyce Hawkins-Thomas, Maggie Longley, Gloria Scott-Jackson, Vivian Springs-Jackson, Dr Pamela St.Clair, Arcola Stafford, Dorothy Simmons-Blake, Katira Ware, and Betty Ard (not photographed)
